WYE HILL

BY: Briana Aguilar

If you’re a fan of dining outside while enjoying the Raleigh skyline, then Wye Hill is the place for you! Located in Boylan Heights, right on the outskirts of downtown Raleigh, you’ll find Wye Hill sitting on the top of the hill. Their outside sitting is decorated with wooden lattice and string lights perfect for a romantic date night

They offer small plates and shareable dishes, which is my absolute favorite way to dine! Plus, you don’t have to worry about asking, “for a bite” since it’s all shareable! However, if you have a big appetite, they have several large dishes to choose from just in case you’re not in the sharing mood!

The Thai Mushrooms are my favorite shareable dish! The mushrooms are locally sourced from Fox Farm and Forage (Next time you’re at the farmers market make sure you check them out!), cooked to perfection and coated in a pea shoot pesto, chili oil, and sesame sauce! I am not a huge mushroom person, but you can’t just have one bite! Their Herb Roasted Chicken is one of my favorite large plates! With chicken sourced from Joyce Farms accompanied with purple sweet potato puree and Brussel sprouts, this dish is so good I often find myself doing a little dance and humming a tune with each bite.

Although they have several tasty cocktails and beer options to choose from, my favorite drink on the menu is their zero-proof non-alcoholic cocktail, the Apparent Disregard! You gotta try it! It’s so good with hints of pear, Thai basil, and apple drinking vinegar… don’t let that scare you! It truly makes the drink!

Wye Hill considers every patron’s palette. They even have a secret all-vegan menu! Who doesn’t love a secret menu?! But shhh, you didn’t hear it from me!

Parking: Street Parking and lot parking is available. If you want to enjoy a few places downtown after dinner, consider renting a BIRD or GOTCHA scooter to get you there!

Ambiance: Romantic outside seating. Oversees the Raleigh Skyline. Inside seating is available with a full bar.

Palate Notes: Locally sourced ingredients. Vegetables make an appearance in almost every dish. Most flavors are savory and rustic!

Now it’s time for the tea… Sip, Sip, Spill Style:

Sip: Outside sitting is better, inside isn’t as aesthetically pleasing…

Sip: You either have to pay for parking or find street parking…

SPILL: The dishes aren’t traditional so go with an open mind! Your taste buds will thank you!
